cupcakes on my nails

So I went to my niece's 1st birthday this past Saturday and her theme was cupcakes & ladybugs, cute right?! I actually had baked about 75 cupcakes for the party for the kiddos to decorate. Anyway, haha me being totally in love with cupcakes (their taste, look, smell, feel, lol) was inspired to do some colorful nail art designs for the party! Doing both hands took me all of about 2 hours, but it was totally worth it! You like?

I am IN LOVE with how they turned out. I wanted each nail to be a different design, but wanted to keep the colors somewhat monochromatic. This would be an awesome nail tutorial but I have no idea how to film that (no tripod). We'll see, I might figure it out eventually.

After doing my nails this cute playful design, it inspired me to play around with my makeup for the night. Bright, fun, girlie colors; I ended up using a yellow shadow, a mix of pinks, and a deep purple. This look was super easy to do I am definitely doing a tutorial on it.

Yep, enjoy the candid shots :)

something i've been enjoying

For months and months my boyfriend has been going fishing, I myself always thought of fishing as a real bore and waste of time. It wasn't until about a month ago when I started getting curious on why my boyfriend enjoyed it so much. I asked him if I could go fishing with him and I must say, the first time we went I again made the conclusion that this wasn't for me.

Then we went a second time, and this trip totally changed my aspect of fishing (these pics are from the 2nd trip). I think it was because of the change of location. The spot we went to this time was near some condo's, and the beach was very calm and serene. A lot of people say the waiting is the hardest part, but to me, its the best part! It's the time I have to spend with my boyfriend, time for good conversations, for laughs.

I am very much looking forward to many more fishing trips with my boo. We actually went "whipping" last week and little ole me caught 2 fish (woohoo!). This is a new hobby, and something to do with the boyfriend. Any time with him, is a good time :)

NYX "thalia" lipstick

First off, let me just say that this lipstick is AMAZING! I featured this lipstick in my very first ever YouTube video! I was a little lighter then, and felt it suited me very well then. It's been about a year now, and I've gotten a tad bit darker. I haven't picked this lipstick up since a year ago I believe, but boy what was I thinking? I LOVE this one!

I have a couple more NYX lipsticks, but they have a frost finish to them which is my least favorite kind of finish, especially for lipsticks. Frost finishes bring out the lines in your lips, which I seem to have a lot of, haha. Anyway, this one is a cream finish, and very creamy indeed! Very easy to apply and the payoff is incredible (as you can see).

It's a pretty bright lipstick (for me at least), very bubblegum pink. But thalia has a very unique purple tint to it, which I love because it is very unexpected. I like to wear this lipstick with a simple eye, just some eyeliner and mascara. Pair it with a nice pink blush and you're set to go! I love pairing bright lips with a almost bare eye. Definitely check this one out if you can.

you can purchase it at CVS, on their website nyxcosmetics.com, and on cherryculture.com

Vakker Blomst Hairpiece!!

Ok so I know over a month ago I blogged about me entering and winning a contest. I've been meaning to make this post for a looonnnggg time and finally, here it is! lol.

Gabriella gave the head piece to me awhile back and I can honestly say I've never seen any head piece like this one! It's definitely not something I would personally wear on an everyday basis, but if you need to spice up your outfit this will do the trick!

There's lots of ways you can wear this headband. It had some crystal detailing on it, and the band had that rubber grip thing on it so it stays on the hair nicely. When I wear it I feel like I'm in the 60's, like one of those flapper girls. Maybe I should wear this for Halloween?

As I said in the last post, Vakker Blomst is a new upcoming accessory line here on Maui. Her pieces are sold at Solei Luna salon, and Ono Gelato in Lahaina and in Kihei. Visit her website here: http://www.vakkerblomstdesigns.com/ She makes really nice pieces and they are ALL handmade. You can also check her line out on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Lahaina-HI/Vakker-Blomst-Beautiful-Flower/112223438825719?v=wall&ref=ts

thanks for your patience

meet my puppy!

Meet my puppy! She's about 2 months old now, and she is adorable! Her name is Zara (yes, like the store) and she is a pit bull shar pei mix. My little baby is pretty heavy, she's the biggest of her brother's and sister's! And she's super playful, and SUPER sleepy!

Zara lives at my boyfriends house but I get to have her at my house sometimes. I just had her with me last weekend and she cuddled with me while we slept. She definitely LOVES to nibble on toes, and I have a big stuffed monkey that she likes to chew up as well. Maybe I can get a video up on my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/HunnieBiscuit23?feature=mhum soon so you girls can see how cute she is!

Just thought I'd show my little monkey to you all!

forever21, wetseal, rimmel & NYX! HAUL(aaa) like hollah? get it?

Watch my haul here!!
Watch my haul here!!!!

Some swatches of the products I bought. enjoyy :)

Rimmel Fix & Perfect face primer
-It is sort of orange at first, but blends in with your skin tone. Expect a review either here or on my YouTube channel

Rimmel blush in "pink sorbet"
-This blush DEFINITELY has a shimmery/satin finish. It's a midtone pink and beautiful on the cheeks or even as a highlight

Rimmel quad in "smokey blues"
-A mix of silvers and midtone blues. They all have a satin finish to them, so I personally wouldn't use the highlight color, that would be too much for me. I'm totally excited to do a look with this quad.

Rimmel Lasting Finish polishes "hot cocoa" & "steel grey"
-I am IN LOVE with both of these polishes! They are both cream finishes, which are my favorite kind. "Hot cocoa" is a nice rosey color and "steel grey" is a taupe/grey (& a dupe for sephora by OPI's metro chic). Both of these colors are purrrfect for fall. These polishes will be on my nails all the time!

Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara

I guess you could say I have your typical "asian lashline" meaning they are short, sparse, and DO NOT hold curl very well. Mines aren't so sparse though, I'd say that I have the average amount. I have been looking (and am still looking) for a mascara that works with my lashes. I enjoy really black mascaras, that give lots of volume and length to my lashes.

My boyfriend got this mascara for me about 2 months ago. I tried it a few times, and didn't like it at first so i shoved it in my mascara drawer. About a month ago, I picked it back up and gave it another try, and FELL IN LOVE! I don't know what the difference from then and now is, but i absolutely adore this mascara.
Since my lashes are already black, I need a really black mascara to make them pop! Of course I love the packaging, yellow&purple!!! The wand on this mascara is nice as well, big enough so it's easy to control, but not too big that it's hard to use on the lower lashes. This mascara gives me tons of volume, which is awesome! And it does make my lashes look longer as well.

DOWNSIDE: I've found one downside to this overall great mascara. It flakes! ahhhhhh!!! Not a lot, and I only notice it when I touch my lashes. Not too big of a problem for me, but just wanted to let you all know!

You can purchase this mascara at any drugstore and it's less than $10! Give it a try if you have similar lashes as mine, because i laaavvvv it!

thanks for reading,
xoxo kim

I can't move my face!

I finally did a WAY overdue face mask today. I went to work today with no face makeup on, and looked in the mirror to find that my nose was infested (yuck) with blackheads! I knew it then and there that it was face mask time!

I decided to use the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque, because I bought it awhile ago and never used it! It claims to remove blackheads and shrink enlarged pores; thats exactly whatI needed! I applied a generous amount all over the face, making sure to get more on my nose! The directions say to let it set for about 15 minutes so I started waiting (taking pictures of my self to pass the time).

&& this is me, trying to smile!

I absolutely COULD NOT believe how tight my face was! While it was drying, it tingled, then burned a bit, but nothing too harsh. The next thing i knew BAM! my face was hard as rock! Every time I blinked it felt as if my face were cracking! I didn't mind though, thanks for the temporary botox! After 15 minutes I washed it off with warm water, and followed with toner, eye cream, and moisturizer (my face was like a baby's butt!). As for eliminating my blackheads, I did notice that most of them were gone. There were still some on the sides of my nose (those sneaky buggers) but not as bad as it was before. As for the pore thing, I didn't notice much, but my pores aren't huge anyway.

All in all, i really enjoyed this face mask. I just need to get myself to use it more often! I totally recommend it to anyone and everyone! I bought it at my local Walgreens so if you're interested, check yours out! It's cheap too, only $4.99!!

I won a contest!

I'm really excited to have won a contest! I'm definitely one of those people who enter contests and sadly never win :(

BUT this time I did! My friend from work, Gabriella hosted her very first contest on her blog a couple weeks ago, so of course I entered! It was for a beautiful headband made by Vakker Blomst, a local up and coming line here on Maui. Once I get my prize, I will be doing a colab blog post with Gab.

STAY TUNED!!

A day at Leah's house

I went over to Leah's house yesterday to hang out. It was a very fulfilling day; I did her makeup and also filmed it so i'll link it here when it goes up. But for now i'll put some pictures of the look.

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE:

I used her NYX palette for brown eyes, which obviously can be used on any eye color. The palette has different shades of purple, brown, and a really nice bright green. It also has variations of highlight colors, which is nice to change up your looks.

On Leah's cheeks is a bronzing powder by modelista, and on her lips is the wet&wild mega color lipstick in just peachy. She has nothing else on her face, isn't it amazing?

Now onto what this post is REALLY about! I haven't done anyone's nails for a LONG time, so i wanted her to be my guinea pig :P

As you can see i did a really simple cheetah print on all her toes, with a bright turquoise as a base. I love this combo because it really pops! And Leah loves it too, right Leah? haha. i used my black skinny brush nail polish to make half circles and dots and such. I think cheetah is the easiest style to do on your nails. You all should give it a try!

Nail Polish Haul

HI :)
I had a phase in the past where I was all into painting my nails and decorating them and such, then it all stopped! I decided to give my nails a little more attention, and I need to get my creative juices flowing again!

I've noticed that I have been buying a lot of nail polishes lately, so I thought I'd show you all what I picked up! heeerrree weeee gooo!

I got these NYX nail polishes from my local drug store for $1.99. Not a bad price right?
These aren't your usual nail polishes, these are the ones with the skinny brushes. It's a lot easier to do designs with these types of brushes because you get much more control and you can totally get into detail. Don't these colors remind you of independence day?

I got more skinny brush nail polishes from jeans warehouse, I'm not sure if it's only in Hawaii or not? but these were only $1.99! so i just had to try them out! I got gold glitter, red glitter, and a simple black. I also picked up a regular nail polish that's a kind of mauve/taupe color (the flash washed it out).

Here's some nail polish swatches. On the left is an NYX nail polish in "yuppies" that I bought along with the other NYX polishes. On the right is a nail polish by Beauty Treats called "vintage"

I got this glittery nail polish at walmart yesterday. I wish it was more chunky glitter but it's more little glitter than chunky. It's called "starry silver glitter". As you can see there's blue and pink/purple chunks of glitter, and just little silver glitter.

These little crystals were my favorite purchases! I got all six in a pack for $3.99! They add a little sophistication to any nail design! Pretty easy to apply as well. Soooo excited to use these!

When I get back into the swing of things, I'll definitely do a blog post on nail designs! Thanks for taking the time to read my blog guys, until next time!!

xoxo, Kim :))

what's on my face?

Guess who decided to make a video today?!?
me me me!!

So i was contemplating on what video to make today, when AHA! it hit me! Never filmed a face routine video, and why not this be the time to do it? I'm finally content with how my face routine for summer is, and since its basically summer all year round here in Hawaii, I don't believe it will change much. I do however have another routine, which I will do another video on as well. This one is the simpler of the two, so i put this up first. Enjoy!

Products used/mentioned:

LUSH color supplements- I used both ones with the yellow undertone, i love the consistency and coverage that these give me!

Foundation brush is from Walmart (no brand) but i love it! thanks boyfrann ;)
blends product in so well, love the finish it gives!

I used Espresso e/s by MAC and an angled brush to fill in my brows, then brushed through them with a spool tipped brush for a natural look

I'm a C4 in the MAC studio fix. I pretty much use it to set the color supp's, and for a little more coverage. This adorable kabuki is from Forever21! super soft!

On my cheeks i used Peaches blush by MAC, with a MAC 129 blush brush. This color gives my face a nice flushed glow. I think I use this blush almost everyday.

Here's my video on my face routine. See how i get the look!

New to Blogger!!

I went out on a whim and decided to create my own little blog! I'm not exactly sure what to write in this first blog post, but i feel it should be something pretty interesting, since its kind of like a preview for a movie. The decision maker on if you want to watch it or not, you know? lol. Well this blog will consist of video's about makeup, fashion and such, as well as posts on quick reviews and raves! i absolutely LOVE makeup, and if you let me, I'd like to share my love with you!

I guess i'll start off this blog with my favorites from the month of June. Enjoy!

Stay tuned for more!
